Where My Heart Was Shaped

When I think about who I am today, my mind doesn’t go first to ministry, writing, leadership, or accomplishments. I think about home—my parents, my brothers and sisters, Sunday dinners, and the ordinary moments where God was quietly shaping my heart.

My father taught me faith, integrity, and the importance of honoring God. Sundays meant church, but many of life’s lessons happened at home. My mother, Pearl, was quiet but firm. She loved us deeply, protected us, set boundaries, and taught us responsibility. In different ways, they both helped shape the faith, values, and love for people that remain part of me today.

Some of my sweetest memories are the simplest ones. Life eventually became more complicated. I have experienced love and laughter, but also loss, disappointment, change, and seasons that didn’t unfold as I expected. Through it all, my faith has remained at the center of who I am. I’ve learned that God doesn’t stop being faithful simply because life becomes difficult.

Those experiences have also taught me that people often carry things we cannot see. Sometimes encouragement, a listening ear, a sincere prayer, or simply knowing someone cares can make a difference. That understanding is part of what moves me to write, encourage, and share what God places in my heart. I want people to know that a difficult season does not have to become the final chapter. Healing is possible. Joy can return. God is still at work.

My story is still being written, and so is yours.

In the beginning, God. In the end, God.

Simple Joys

Life is beautiful

Life is beautiful and I still enjoy the simple pleasures that always make me smile. The memories I have growing up are very precious to me. I still enjoy a beautiful peaceful garden and yard, baking delicious desserts for my family, as well as great conversation during dinner with people I love.
There is something special about gathering around the table enjoying good food, fellowship, laughter and stories that warm the heart and bring back memories.

I’ve learned not to overlook those moments. Life moves quickly, and sometimes the ordinary things become the memories we treasure most.
